Getting around

Oxford has the second highest percentage in the UK of people cycling to work, though many people choose to use the bus or train. Its public transport system is efficient and reliable. You can find information on all forms of local transport on the Experience Oxfordshire website.

Thames travel operates a shuttle service on three routes between the University's major science research sites. University staff can claim a discount on the PickMeUp minibus ride-sharing service for journeys within the city, or you can book a taxi (a 'black cab' from the taxi rank at the rail station or coach station, or a pre-booked licensed private hire vehicle from any location).

You can catch the train from Oxford to most major cities including London (Paddington or Marylebone), Reading, Birmingham and Manchester.

You can travel by coach to London using the OxfordTube services, or to London Heathrow, Gatwick, and Birmingham airports.

If you or your visitors would like to travel further afield, you may wish to hire a car.
